Mahavidya Sadhna

Respected Mr. Sanjay,

In one of your Dashamsha lessons you have recommended that Sadhna for Mahavidya should be done on the DARKER tithi ruled by the planet opposite from sadhna planet when the sun is transiting in the exaltation sign of the sadhna planet. I will like to do the Bhuvaneswari Mahavidya Sadhna for Moon but I am not sure which Tithi I should use for sadhna. Saturn (planet opposite from moon) rules 7th and 15th Tithi. Should I use 7th Tithi because it is darker or should I do it on Purnima. Please advise.

Thanks for your help,

Regards
Seren

Let us first study the principle involved with the Mahavidya sadhana. There are many principles and the one stated for ‘dashamsha’ is for sansara. For other purposes, please study the relevant texts under an able guru.

Now, coming to the principle taught therein, let us examine one case and then see how this will apply to Bhuvaneshwari sadhana.

1. Determine the planet opposite the sign ruled by the sadhana planet.

For example, for Bagalamuhi sadhana, the graha is Mars (having Bagala as its Ista Mata). Then for the signs of Mars, we find the opposite signs

  • Aries ruled by Mars > has Libra ruled by Venus opposite
  • Scorpio ruled by Mars > has Taurus ruled by Venus opposite.

So, the opposite planet is Venus

2. Determine the tithi ruled by this opposite planet.

Venus rules shasti and caturdasi tithi. In Krsna Paksha, aturdasi is darker and we prefer that tithi

3. No choose the original planet at step (1) for the sadhana shakti and determine exaltation sign for month to start sadhana.

Mars is the planet having Bagala as his Ista Mata. Its exaltation sign is Capricorn.

Final Result: Therefore we choose Krishna Caturdasi in Makara Masa (Su in Cp, after makara sankranti) for Bagala sadhana starting date.

Can you do this exercise for Bhuvanesi?

Thanks Guruji for the detailed response. Here is my exercise for Bhuvaneswari Sadhna.

I will like to do Bhuvaneswari Mahavidya Sadhna for Moon. So the sadhna planet is Moon.

1. Determine the planet opposite the sign ruled by the sadhana planet.

For the sign of Moon, we find the opposite signs

Cancer ruled by Moon > has Capricorn ruled by Saturn opposite

So, the opposite planet is Saturn

2. Determine the tithi ruled by this opposite planet.

Saturn rules Saptami and Purnima tithi. In Krsna Paksha, Saptami is darker and we prefer that tithi.

3. Now choose the original planet at step (1) for the sadhana shakti and determine exaltation sign for month to start sadhana.

Moon is the planet having Bhuvaneswari as his Ista Mata. Its exaltation sign is Taurus.

Final Result: Therefore we choose Krishna Saptami when Sun is in Taurs for Bhuvaneswari sadhana starting date.

Is that correct?

Regards

Seren
