George Harrison

“This Mysterious Beatle” George Harold Harrison needs no introduction. The date and time of his birth as recorded are [1]25 February, 1943; 00:05’ BST; (-1Hr GMT); Liverpool, U.K. Later this was ‘corrected’ by an astrologer. He wrote, “For instance, I only learned recently after all these years that the date and time of my own birth have always been off by one calendar day and about a half hour on the clock,” reported in Billboard magazine, 12/1992.” On a prior occasion, he had given out February 25, 1943, 00:05 AM GDT, (23 minutes later). Tashi Grady met Harrison in 7/1993 and he said that he and his astrologer had rectified the time to [2] 11:52:19 PM. Lois Rodden’s Astrodatabank has further ‘corrected’ this time to [3] 11:42’ PM.

We have examined the three timings and are of the opinion that the time that was corrected by the astrologer at [2] to match his life events is correct. The time of 11:52’:19” has been slightly touched to 11:53’:05” on 24 February, 1943 based on Pranapada being in trines to Navamsa Lagna.

Parents

His mother Louise was a housewife who was the cheer leader as the young Beatles practiced at his home. The Moon is a crucial planet in the chart and is placed in the Lagna in Libra in rapt conjunction with the ascendant. This promises fame and a lot of popularity and is also the natural significator for mother. It shows that her blessings and encouragement would translate into a meaningful life in music. As the tenth Lord in Lagna, the Moon promises fame and pursuit of an independent and unique path. This was his life of music. The Lagna in Dwadasamsa shows the mothers profession and the Lagna Lord Jupiter is placed in the 12th house from the fourth with the routine worker Ketu indicating that the mother would not have any meaningful career choice.

His father Harold Harrison was a bus driver. The sixth house in the Dwadasamsa chart shows the fathers career and here we find Venus (Vehicles) in Taurus as the tenth Lord showing the profession as a driver. He was the youngest of The Beatles and the only Beatle whose childhood was not marred by divorce or death. This is the blessing of the great Moon in such rapt conjunction. Moon is  also one of the three Yogada in the chart besides Saturn and Venus as it is placed in Lagna and aspects the Ghatika and Hora Lagna by Rasi Drishti.

Siblings

George had two brothers Peter and Harry, and a sister, Louise. The third house is severely afflicted by Mandi, Gulika and Mars and its Lord Jupiter although aspecting it, is retrograde. This indicates the absence of younger co-born. The eleventh Lord from Lagna is the sun in conjunction with Ketu, the Lord of its exaltation star and is also aspected by Jupiter. Rahu although placed in the 11th house is the Atmakaraka and will not harm in this matter. Arudha Lagna is in Leo and the eleventh Lord from it is Mercury placed in Capricorn. Mercury has gained FIVE Navamsa indicating that there can be about five elder co-born. Expunging Pisces the sign of debility of Mercury and Saturn & Rahu conjunction in Aries Navamsa, we get three elder co-born. This is further confirmed in the Rasi chart as Mercury is only aspected by Saturn and Rahu (Rasi Drishti) and is not conjoined any planet showing three elder co-born.

Marriage & Children

During the filming of the movie, A Hard Day’s Night, George met Pattie Boyd, and the two were married on January 21, 1966 in Jupiter Dasa Mercury Antardasa. In the Navamsa (D-9 Chart), Jupiter is the Lord of Lagna and mercury is the Lord of the seventh house and is also placed in the seventh house. His greatness lies in his befriending Eric Clapton despite Clapton’s visible longing for his wife Pattie – a desire that is immortalized in the song “Layla” by Clapton’s band. Pattie gave George love and self-confidence while Clapton gave him respect as a guitar player and self-esteem. After his disastrous tour of the USA in 1974 (after the breakup of the Beatles), he went into a depression that led to his divorce in 1977. The couple did not have any children. Note that the Dasa of Saturn had just started in June 1976 and Saturn is placed in the eighth house indicating the break of marriage.

In 1977, George met Olivia Arrias, a Mexican-Californian who had originally come to work as a secretary (Saturn-subordinate) in his ‘Dark Horse’ record company. They fell in love and lived together which led to the birth of their son, Dhani[1], born on August 1, 1978. George and Olivia married one month later. All this happened in Saturn dasa Saturn Antardasa as Saturn is the Yogakaraka lord of the 4th and 5th house promising a child, and is also an independent Yogada as it is placed in the Hora & Ghatika Lagna Taurus and aspects the Lagna in Libra by Rasi Drishti. Note the name of the child “Dhani” as referring to the sign Taurus and Hora Lagna that is associated with wealth.

Second marriage is seen from the second house in the Navamsa chart and Saturn is the second lord placed in debility in Aries Navamsa indicating the second marriage as soon as its period started. This conjunction of Saturn with the Atmakaraka Rahu also gave him a wife who would appreciate his spirituality. Its aspect on the seventh house damages the first marriage while promoting the second. After all, in the words of Chanakya, of what use is a wife if she cannot give you children. Of what use are friends and wives who will only share the laughter. In fact friends who have such longing for one’s wife are the propagators of the greatest evil that goes against the basic moral fibre that builds homes and a decent society. He did well to end his first marriage and marry his erstwhile secretary who at least shared his initial sorrow and gave him the strength to rise again, besides the great joy of a son.

Childhood

George had a normal happy childhood with both parents growing up in a public housing project. He attended Dovedale Primary School two forms behind John Lennon, and then the Liverpool Institute, one form behind Paul McCartney. He was a mediocre student. Most of these years were in the dasa of the Atmakaraka Rahu placed in the eleventh house and having malefic Argala on both the fourth Lord Saturn and the fourth house.

In Rahu dasa Venus Antardasa at the age of 13 his mother got him his first guitar. Venus is the natural karaka for the arts and is a Yogada in the chart being the lord of the Lagna, Hora Lagna and Ghatika Lagna. Venus is also exalted in the Rasi chart and is laced in the ninth house in the Navamsa thereby promoting his artistic talents. His natural talents are seen in the trines to Navamsa Lagna. Moon in the Lagna shows a desire to sing while Jupiter the Lord of Navamsa Lagna in trines makes one a good author and in trines to Venus, poetic abilities will be marked. This reaches a very high level of self actualization as the Lord of Navamsa Lagna conjoins the Atmakaraka Rahu promising a very high (international level) of achievement. Saturn in trines to Lagnamsa makes him hardworking and dedicated to his line. These factors are sure to give success.

The ability with the musical instrument comes from the Sun ruling the rhythms. The sun is the Lord of the ninth in Navamsa and is in the second house having Argala on Lagna showing that this ability would be acquired with some hard work more so as Saturn is the dispositor of the Sun and is in trines to Lagnamsa. This is confirmed by the fact that his early efforts at guitar playing were somewhat futile–he bought a guitar as a young adolescent, but found he couldn’t understand the chording patterns. While he was experimenting with one of the screws, the instrument fell apart. In frustration George hid the guitar in the closet and turned his efforts to the trumpet, where he met with a similar lack of success. Eventually one of his older brothers [Note that the Sun is the Lord of the eleventh house ruling elder brothers in the Rasi chart] repaired the guitar. This happened in Rahu Dasa sun antardasa. On his next attempts George managed to learn a few chords. After that he practiced diligently, listening to recordings of famed guitarists in order to perfect his style.

George joined Paul McCartney at the Liverpool institute and later became a member of John Lennon’s group ‘The Quarrymen’ at the age of 15 years. With the advent of the Rajyoga dasa of Jupiter in 1960, the group changed its name to ‘The Beatles’.

Why would Jupiter, a dire malefic for Libra Lagna give such an astounding Rajyoga and success during its Dasa? Jupiter is the dispositor of the exalted Lagna Lord and its placement in a trine, that too the ninth house gives good fortune to the native besides good health. It is also the dispositor of the second and seventh Lord mars and is aspected by it to indicate increase in wealth. In the Navamsa it is the Lagna and Moon sign Lord and is placed in the fifth house with the Atmakaraka indicating great success and position akin to a king during its dasa. In the Dasamsa, it is again the Lagna and Moon sign Lord and is placed in the second house in debility with Venus. This is the strongest of the Artha Trikona and directs the career successes. It aspects both the sun and Moon promising that the Rajyoga during its period will bear fruit for a long time. Jupiter is also placed in the 11th house from Arudha Lagna promising immense amount of legitimate income.

With the advent of Jupiter dasa, in August 1960 the Beatles set off for Hamburg on the invitation of the ‘Indra Club’. Note that the name Indra is associated with the deity of Jupiter. However, the Beatles performed for a rival club which irked the owner of Indra club. The latter lodged a police complaint against George for being underage (17 years) and he was sent back to England.

To be continued….. someday I will do justice to this greak seeker.
